The Power Of The Blue Check

Twitter has 320 million monthly active users, and those users represent spot-on demographics for many marketers.  Having the verified check mark can be extremely beneficial for your brand and helps your content to be seen by way more than just your following, which can result in new business!  An additional major benefit is accessibility to account analytics - which formerly was only available to advertisers.

The little blue check that shows up means the account is ... officially real. Officially authentic. Officially likely of interest. And officially more easily found by others.  In this blog, Hollywood Branded shares SurePayRoll's infographic sharing tips on how you can get YOUR BRAND (or yourself) verified on Twitter!

How YOU Can Earn That Blue Check!

In July, Twitter shared many changes that were going to be occurring over the span of the year. And for the first time ever, the platform opened up the option to apply for the verification checkmark. Prior to July, the check was only given to influencers (athletes, celebs, authors, major news organizations and media outlets, etc). The result?  You can now go onto Twitter and apply for the verification yourself - for your company or your own brand image. However - there are a few things you need to be sure your account has updated before applying.

To be able to complete the form, your account must have the following:

  • A verified phone number
  • A confirmed email address
  • Note: If the account is a company or organization account, the email address associated with the account should be a company or organization email address.
  • A bio
  • A profile photo
  • A header photo
  • A birthday (for accounts that are not company, brand, or organization accounts)
  • A website
  • Tweets set as public in Tweet privacy settings

Once you have all the credentials filled out and verified, you then write in 500 characters or less why your page should be verified, hit submit, and hope for the best!

You will be notified via email whether they have decided to verify your account...or not.  And with some pre-planning and a bit of luck - you are on your way to being OFFICIAL. In the land of Twitter at least.
