How This Season's Most Talked About Characters Take Over Latest Ads
Game of Thrones is not just a television show, but a phenomenon. The series has reached insane heights, with some episodes garnering up to 25 million viewers. This is Super Bowl sized TV. And as the story reaches its apex this season with only one season to go, two of its biggest stars, Jon Snow and Emilia Clarke have become two of the most talked about people on the internet.
Brands know this, and the luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana has built their latest ad campaign around their star power. In this blog, Hollywood Branded looks at the newest Game of Thrones celebrity ad campaign for Dolce & Gabbana featuring Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke.
Capitalizing On The Game of Thrones Hysteria
If you haven't seen the season finale of Thrones - spoilers ahead! And if you have, you'll know exactly what we're talking about when we talk about that... ahem... scene between two of our favorite characters. Of course, Daenerys Targaeryn and Jon Snow have finally become a thing and the internet is going nuts.
Luxury perfume and cologne company Dolce & Gabanna is capitalizing on that relationship, even if it is only fictional, in their latest celebrity ad campaign featuring Emilia Clarke and Kit Harrington.
The ads feature each of them walking through a small Italian town, smiling and interacting with the townspeople. They are obviously loved by all around them, which we see as the commercials both introduce them as the newest faces of Dolce & Gabbana.
The only thing that seems a bit strange in this ad campaign is that the two actors aren't actually shown together. Ever! They each have their own separate ad. However many fans are hoping it won't be long before they are featured together - which would be a great tie-up for the campaign.
Why Is This Such A Great Pairing?
Because of the nature of a series like Game of Thrones, brand integration and co-marketing can be difficult, (that is, with the exception of some pretty cool but unintentional IKEA product placement). So an ad campaign like this is a fantastic way to use the show in a marketing strategy.
And, of course, the brand used the most arguably beloved character pairing in the show right now as the new face of their "The One" campaign. If the rumors (and fan wishes) are true, and the two eventually join in an ad together, people will adore it. And of course, that's good news for Dolce & Gabbana.
