SEO Before Doesn't Work Anymore
When it comes to SEO, there are many factors that can influence your ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs). Unfortunately, some of these factors are often overlooked or underestimated.
In fact, Google's Algorithm has been evolving, and there are a lot of previous best practices that don't work anymore! In this blog, Hollywood Branded breakdown the three hidden factors that can jeopardize your SEO ranking and why it is important for you to understand them.
#1: Say NO to Search-Engine Focus Content
Have you heard these phrases?
- To get a highly optimized blog, you need to divide X number of total words to recommended Y ratio?
- Aside from main keywords, you need to have a long LSI and short tail LSI keyword.
These days, content that is written solely for search engine optimization (SEO) doesn’t work as well as it used to. As algorithms become more sophisticated, search engines are recognizing the importance of user-first content that provides actual value.
Remember this! Google follows the E-E-A-T format to identify the worth of your content.
If you’re still writing keyword-dense blocks of text, then expect no growth or be penalized as a result.
While it's still recommended to follow SEO guidelines, calculating your keywords is not necessary anymore.
#2: Care About Your Backlinks
Backlinks are still a huge factor in SEO; you can generate more organic search traffic, but with new SEO updates, sharing link juices to low-quality and spammy backlinks can hurt you drastically.
Way back in 2018, Google launched an AI-based prevention system called SpamBrain that spots spam. If your site is linking to spammy content, they might flag it in accordance with their spam policy which may result in a lower rank or, worse, not appearing in results at all.
So it's time to open now your Google webmaster > Links > and unlink those trashy links!
#3: Not Following Technical Guidelines
Although technical guidelines can't hurt your ranking, applying their best practices will give you an edge over your competitors. To ensure your content is optimized and rendered properly, you'll need to pay attention to specific best practices for multimedia elements like images, videos, structured data, or JavaScript.
Here are a few to look out for:
- Add alt text on your image markup
- Provide more information about your blog via schema markup
- Describe your post with unique titles and snippets
- Write a compatible code
- Follow this markup for client-based page like 404<meta name="robots" content="noindex">
