New & Trending

Millennials are always looking to be the first to hop on the new hot trend before their friends do. And Instagram has become the favored source and hub for fashion and lifestyle inspiration for these millennials to follow and get insight.  While influencers often post on Instagram about a specific clothing item or product, to date they haven't been able to include a link to have the fan check it out.  And that leads to hoping that someone will hop off the platform and go to the brand's website to find that specific shirt or item.

And in truth that just doesn't happen all that much.  Well -  that process may just become a whole lot easier.  In this blog, Hollywood Branded takes a look at Instagram’s new plan to launch a shopping feature which means new ways your brand can market on Instagram!

Instagram Is Set To Launch A Shopping Feature

Instagram business published an article sharing that they are going to start with a selection of brands to test their new shop feature in the coming months. A group of 20 brands will be able to provide more detailed product information within the Instagram platform itself.  This is to enable viewers to simply click an icon, and learn more - and buy!

The brands will have an icon at the bottom left of their photos and they will be able to list pricing for up to 5 products on 1 image. Once the consumer clicks the price tag, detailed product information will pop up letting the consumer further explore the item. They then will be able to click a “shop now” button which will direct them to the brands website for check out.

Brand Awareness….And Sales?

Many brands believe in social influencer marketing on the power of brand awareness alone. Others have fingers and toes crossed that sales will actually result as well.  In our agency's opinion, having influencers post on behalf of a brand and the brand gaining an astronomical amount of followers just overnight is extremely beneficial, and part of building a longer term relationship with the brand which will ultimately lead to sales.  After all, a whole new set of eyeballs viewing the brand.

Millennials are known for being lazy so sometimes the buyers journey stops after following the brand on Instagram. According to an Instagram business internal survey, they learned that the vast majority of purchases take a day or longer to actually happen.  Millennials aren't finger trigger happy to just instantly buy, and only 21% of purchases are made within 24 hours.

However, now being able to shop right on the spot may just give them the push (easy access) they need to complete a purchase! It will also educate the potential buyer with details on the product that can help sway their decision.

What We’ve Been Noticing On Instagram Recently - A Little Sneaky Sneak

Recently we’ve noticed in bio’s on multiple boutique Instagram accounts they share a “shop our feed” link. You click the link and get directed to the Company’s website where it looks just like their Instagram. You then click on the picture and it shows specific items that are worn in the photos along with a link to the actual item.

This may be an ideal way for you to start that shopping process, until the Instagram Shopper platform is available for everyone.
