And The People's Choice Award Goes To...
The 48th annual People’s Choice Awards were held on December 6th at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, celebrating 40 categories and honors across all forms of pop culture; movies, television, music, social media, and more! This night truly showcases the power of fans, as they are the ones deciding who gets to walk away with the coveted PCA trophy.
This year, the PCAs highlighted three incredible ICONS who have made an impact in their respected industries as well as work outside. Lizzo was awarded the People’s Champion Award, Shania Twain won the Music Icon Award, and Ryan Reynolds took home the People’s Icon Award. 2022 People's Choice Awards
For the second year in a row, the show was hosted by Kenan Thompson and truly showcased the fan’s voices and who they support and want to win.
All the stars were in attendance and walked the purple carpet; Dwayne Wade, Ellen Pompeo, Carrie Underwood, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Billy Porter, Olivia Wilde, Sarah Hyland, Heidi Klum, Mariska Hargitay, Selma Blair, Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, Tinx, and more strutted the carpet and showcased their looks.

2022 People's Champion: Lizzo
2022 has been the year of Lizzo! From her chart-topping songs to her Emmy-winning show, she has truly showcased her vast array of talent. But most importantly, Lizzo has used her power and voice to highlight and bring awareness to issues in today’s society – such as diversity and inclusion.
According to People, “Lizzo was recognized for her "groundbreaking contributions to music and television, as well as her commitment to championing overall diversity and inclusivity across race, gender, sexuality, and size.”
Cassandra Tryon, SVP of Entertainment Live Events, NBCUniversal Television, and Streaming, said, "Lizzo is not only an incredibly talented performer and groundbreaking entertainer, she is also a role model and inspiration to fans worldwide. She leads with kindness, advocates for inclusivity, and champions increased diversity and equity in the industry and beyond. Her commitment to breaking barriers and empowering others to use their own voices to create change makes her a true 'People's Champion.'"
To make the award even more special, it was presented to Lizzo by her mom, Shari, who said, “[Lizzo] has shown us all that we don’t have to conform to anyone’s standards in order to be happy…”
Once on stage, Lizzo accepted the award and took the time to talk and highlight 17 other activities who joined her on stage.
Lizzo said, “To be an icon isn't about how long you've had your platform. Being an icon is what you do with that platform. Ever since the beginning of my career, I've used my platform to amplify marginalized voices. Tonight, I'm sharing this honor.”
Another reason as to why Lizzo won this award is due to her inclusive clothing brand, YITTY.
