Most Effective Celebrity Endorsements of Super Bowl 2015

    T-Mobile

T-Mobile’s spot features Kim Kardashian in the first of their two super bowl ads. Kardashian parodied her ‘Selfie’ persona announcing the new rolling data plan T-Mobile launched. The commercial is a light hearted and conversation worthy approach for the star and the cell phone company playing off of the personalities own notoriety – and assets.

    Kia

Kia’s ad featuring Pierce Brosnan was another star parody, but this time around the celebrity poked fun at his previous spy caper and James Bond-esque roles. The spots key takeaway was to show that a Kia could be just as much fun as a luxury sport car in an action setting, but remain completely practical. Again, the ad was received positively by audiences, and reportedly generated a 68 percent jump in search queries for the brand.

Most Effective Celebrity Endorsements of Super Bowl 2016

    Budweiser - Helen Mirren

This spot from Budweiser was perhaps one of the most talked-about ads of the game. With her quick wit and tell-it-like-it-is British manner, Helen Mirren explains just how stupid it is to drink and drive. She addresses drunk drivers personally, referring to someone who drives intoxicated as a "sort-sighted, utterly useless, oxygen-wasting human form of pollution." She goes further to say "if your brain was donated to science, science would return it." You go, girl, you go. This spot was not only funny and clever, but a great way for Budweiser to take a stand for enjoying responsibly.

T-Mobile - Steve Harvey and Drake

These two commercials used celebs and referenced trending topics they were involved in this year. The first featured Steve Harvey in an ode to his recent Miss Universe winner mix-up debacle. He corrects the idea of Verizon having the best LTE coverage and apologizes, saying that T-Mobile now has the best coverage as the iconic Verizon balls are replaced by overflowing pink balls representing T-Mobile. He does add that this time it wasn't his fault for the mix-up, but Verizon's.

    Michelob Ultra - Chris Pratt

With not one, but TWO Super Bowl Ads, Michelob Ultra is bringing Chris Pratt on as the face of their brand in their effort to expand upon the way fitness is experienced by all.  The first ad is cut as both a minute and a :30 second ad, and has Chris Pratt hearing the news that he's the new endorser, and training to appear in the ad - working out by doing curls with a beer.

Ultra will run a 60-second sequel later in the game, "I Like Beer," that stars Pratt alongside pro golfer Brooks Koepka, pro surfer Kelly Slater and marathon runner Shalane Flanagan. Ultra reps say this is the first time Pratt has appeared in a TV commercial for any brand.

Alexa - Jeff Bezos, Cardi B and Gordon Ramsay

In the ad, Alexa has lost her voice and celebrities and others chime in with their own voice to respond to the requester's ask.  Celebrities include music artist Cardi B, actress Rebel Wilson, actor Anthony Hopkins, chef Gordon Ramsay and Amazon head Jeff Bezos.  Cleverly, Amazon made some extra efforts to make sure none of the Alexa's listening in as the Super Bowl played, were able to respond to all of the "Alexa" commands given in the ad.

Most Effective Celebrity Endorsements of Super Bowl 2019

Bubly - Michael Bublé & Aparna Nancherla

PepsiCo's sparkling water brand, Bubly, is jumping on the marketing opportunity of a lifetime with a celebrity endorsement from the aptly-named Michael Bublé. The full ad, titled 'Can I have a bublé?," will air during the Super Bowl, and will reportedly also feature comedienne Aparna Nancherla. A teaser titled 'Bublé vs bubly" was released January 17th featuring Michael Bublé sitting on the floor of a convenience store. To the chagrin of the shop owner, Bublé uses permanent marker to draw 'é' over the 'y' on Bubly cans.

Doritos - Chance the Rapper, Backstreet Boys

PepsiCo's Doritos premiered a fun spot spicing up some nostalgic music to promote their old-but-new Flamin' Hot Nacho flavor. Chance the Rapper kicks the add off by trying the new flavor. He admires that they "made the original hot" as Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way" plays in the background. Chance then makes the original Backstreet Boys song 'hot' with his own rap addition, surrounded by pastel hot-rods and smoke. The Backstreet Boys themselves finally join in, Chance sings the titular line of the original song, and the slogan appears: "The original, now it's hot."
